Stop Biting Me! How To Keep Those Nasty Mosquitoes Away

If you're tired of being eaten alive every time the mosquitoes are active, it's time to take action. Even when you have an exterminator come out, those pesky flying nuisances still seem to find their way into your yard, and on to you. Unfortunately, once mosquitoes bite you, you're left with itchy, painful welts that can take days to clear up. Luckily, there are some things you can do that will reduce your chances of being bitten by the nasty creatures.

Watch What You Wear

If you're going to be heading outside when mosquitoes are at their most active, which is early morning and late afternoon, be sure to watch what you wear. Mosquitoes are attracted to darker colors because they provide a good contrast to their surroundings. To avoid being bitten while you're outside, try to stick to light colors, and thicker materials. For instance, wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved t-shirt and jeans will provide more protection than a dark, short-sleeved shirt, and linen pants.

Make Your Skin Less Appetizing

If your skin isn't protected while you're outside, mosquitoes are going to dine on your blood. That's because you're an easy target, and a tasty treat. To prevent becoming a mosquitoes favorite dining spot, make sure your skin is less appetizing. First, stay hydrated while you're walking. Mosquitoes are attracted to human sweat, which means if you're sweating, you're going to get bit. Drinking plenty of water while you're walking can reduce the amount of sweat you produce, which will help keep the mosquitoes away. Second, always wear insect repellent when you head outdoors. If you don't like the oily feel, switch to one with a powdery feel. Your skin will be protected, and you won't feel oily.

Bring on the Mosquito Netting

If you're tired of waking up covered in mosquito bites, it's time to bring on the mosquito netting. Placing a mosquito net over your bed will keep the mosquitoes away from you at night. There are a wide variety of mosquito nets that are designed for use inside your home. Most of them can be attached directly to your ceiling so that they hang naturally over your bed. Make sure you get a mosquito net for every bed in your home.

Have Your Exterminator Take a Look

If you've got a mosquito infestation going on in your home and yard, you might be missing something. Call your exterminator, and have them come out to take a look at your property. You could have a leaky pipe, or other problems that are inviting the additional mosquito activity.

About Me

Eliminating Termites from Your Home

My father has been a pastor for the same evangelical church in my hometown for the past twenty-nine years. I was only seven years old when my dad began working at this small country church. Over the years, I’ve become quite close to many of the parishioners at this place of worship. Some of these precious people feel like family too me. A couple of years ago, one of the ladies at the church discovered that her home was infested with termites. After consulting with a pest control specialist, she decided to have this individual tent her home in order to rid it of the pesky termites that were slowly destroying it. Now, she has a safe, termite free place to live. On this blog, you will discover the most technologically advanced ways to eliminate termites from your home.
